New Feature: Email Export
You can now export & email yourself a copy of your board. In fact, Doodle Board is faster than anywhere in Quest at getting a saved copy of your work out of your headset and into your inbox.
Often: The goal of a DoodleBoard session is what you do with the DoodleBoard, not the board itself. (Famously, you don’t want the quarter-inch drill, you want the quarter-inch hole!)
So “export” is a critical component of our holistic user journey. Roughly:
I need creativity,
So I open Doodleboard
I draw a board
I put the board somewhere
Finally I can do my thing!
We’ll admit: this feature sounds boring. But it’s essential as we aspire to expand VR’s userbase and attract everyday users.
Meta has hamstrung its built-in export features: You can’t share anywhere & everywhere, the way you might expect from an iOS or Android experience. You can share to Facebook properties, like a group or your feed, or you can sync to your Oculus mobile app — and from there, you can share elsewhere as expected. The friction in doing so is palpable. And it’s not great for getting work done.
DoodleBoard remembers your email address between sessions, reducing click volume.
We’ll keep pushing boundaries to make our app, and VR in general, faster & easier for everyday use!
