Introducing MauiVR and Doodle Board
(Download Doodle Board, our first app!)
In 2023, the killer VR app is exceptional meeting rooms. As written, that sounds dismal. We’re starting MauiVR to make it delightful. We think your most creative and productive virtual meetings in the next few years will take place with the aid of a VR headset, and our studio’s specific focus is to bring that idea to life.
Great meetings — between family, coworkers, or friends — happen when there is just enough to do, and you can give your counterpart the best of your attention & focus.
Meeting for coffee is never really about the coffee. The coffee provides supporting elements: pauses (for sips), progression (as your cup depletes), and stimulation (caffeine!). In that spirit, we aspire for our suite of apps to also do just enough and support you gently. We provide a reason to meet plus something to do, but quickly you’ll find that your counterpart is the star. The stakes in our apps are high enough to engage, but low enough that they won’t detract from your really great idea — in fact, we hope that the app’s creative tools will help generate that idea, or help refine & capture it.
No overwrought instructions or controls. No “metaverse” hype, no zoom fatigue. In Maui you’ll find flow, produce creative work, and have fun.

Our first app Doodle Board is available for free in the Quest App Lab. It’s a “minimum-viable product” for now — we haven’t even built in-game multiplayer yet!1 But we knew that to build the best experience we’d need to get something distributable in your hands. We’d love to hear what you think — drop us a line; we’ll meet you where you’re most comfy!
In the interim, one neat way we've seen multiplayer work great is: Cast Doodle Board to a nearby PC or TV at https://www.oculus.com/cast, and have the IRL viewer call out things for the VR player to draw!
